Blog Entry: How to take decisions: In our life we take many decisions and they affect our career, businesses, family and friends profoundly. Correct decisions bring prosperity, happiness while incorrect one cause loss ad trajedies. So making effort to make correct decision is very important in life. Some decisions are to be taken instantaneously( say run away from fire and save oneself and family, these need more of innate intelligence and strength and I will pardon wrong decisions in such cases). Whimsical decisions I will not. But most of decisions can be taken deliberately and some can be differed. When they have to be taken or you are forced to take then how to take decision is the question. Its better for commoners to observe and follow highly trained managers of industry and govt. Some observations are that first thing industry managers write is facts please.it shows maximum accurate data is to made available before decisions. It may be possible by taking a meeting of the concerned, time period for decision can be fixed abd committee of experts is formedto decide the issue. I remember when our ex finance minister C Subranmanium had to write on file in case of purchase crores worth defence trucks he wrote Can we make it more competitive? He was absolved in enquiry. Naro wa kunjaro wa is best policy in govt but may not work in private. But decisions should not be made hurridly. When person or family take decisions similar procedure can be emulated. Decisions are like judgments and affect lives of many people. Correct decisions are crucial and that is why decision makers in industry are very highly paid. Experience I similar types of works, activities is important, but this criteria is vague.Even experinced people should depend on facts. Value based decisions are difficult. Social values vary in different countries, regions, societies, religions, communities etc. So we may say pragmatic and merciful decisions are better than strict value based ones. But if you have insufficient data but still have to take a decision then what? I think under such circumstances best decision is humane decision.A manager taking humane decision will never repent decision. It may cause some loss but it will give immense Satisfaction and create peace.
